Young male hiker experiences strange events and finds possible tracks at a campground in the Blue Mountains
The witness camped alone at Skyline Campground and hiked toward the wilderness. While setting up camp and hiking he felt a ground thump, heard repeated low growls and tree-knocking that seemed to mimic his own thumps, and found multiple footprints including a well-defined deep print. After the other campers left and the sounds resumed behind his site in the early evening, he left the area frightened.
Teenager observes two upright-walking animals playing while scouting for elk in the Eagle Cap Wilderness
The witness was scouting for elk on foot at first light near a clear-cut. From about 300 yards away through binoculars, the witness watched two small upright figures chase each other and slap hands for about a minute before they walked into thick forest. The witness first mistook them for bears standing upright but said they never dropped to all fours and no sound was heard.

In early July 1972 the witness was slowly driving family members on a faint dirt track atop a broad ridge when upright human-like figures appeared ahead to the left. He first saw one figure, then three together, then a fourth, all uniformly dark and bulky, milling and then walking steadily toward a ravine and treeline. Despite waving and honking, the figures continued away and disappeared into trees within about 45 seconds at no closer than about 100-125 yards, while the witness's wife partially awoke and briefly saw them.
