The witness was camping with four companions near Sonora Pass at dusk when the group heard loud crashing from a nearby ravine. The witness then watched a dark, hair-covered figure run upright across granite rocks and through fallen trees at high speed, breaking branches as it moved. The companions retreated in fear while the witness moved closer to observe to within about 100 feet.

Very late at night while drifting toward sleep, the witness heard heavy footsteps moving around the tent and became frightened. The witness ran to a companion's tent; the companions reported hearing nothing, and the night was noted as unusually quiet with no crickets. No visual observation was made.

Two men returned at night to a fenced rural property above Sonora after viewing a motorcycle for sale. A tall, wide human-like figure stepped from brush a short distance away, looked at them, then crossed the clearing toward a shed in a few strides while making a huff sound. One man got into their truck while the other backed onto the hood with a knife, and they later spent a sleepless night guarding the cabin door.

A witness and his son were camping by a horse corral after building deer blinds. Early in the evening they heard two loud low-pitched screams from different directions, then later watched a pair of red eyes about six to seven feet off the ground for about an hour. When the witness was a child, they were walking in the woods with two other children when they noticed a brown conical-shaped head with deep-set eyes watching them from behind a tree uphill about 100-120 feet away. The shape remained motionless while they watched it for about a minute. The younger companion became upset and the children ran from the area. The witness remains uncertain what was seen.

Months later the witness read a description of similar screaming and associated the sound with Bigfoot.

A group staying in a high-elevation pine forest reported repeated large footprints and strange nighttime sounds over an unspecified period. During one late-night episode, one person looking out from a shelter saw a large shape briefly enter moonlight and then leave. A deputy sheriff responded to reports from local residents about footprints in Leland Meadow. The deputy reported finding hundreds of tracks in the snow, described as 15 inches long with a 5-foot stride. No casts were made, but the find was reported in the local newspaper.

On a Sunday night, repeated shrieks were heard in brushland where a roughly 10-foot-tall grotesque man-like figure was reported. Large prints measuring about 14 to 17 inches were found nearby over the next two days and were followed through a subdivision, park and camp area. A law enforcement leader later described the tracks as shoe prints made before a light snowfall and suggested a mountain lion as a possible source of the noises, while noting fresh lion tracks and no cabin break-ins.

An anonymous caller told the sheriff's office that a roughly nine- to ten-foot-tall human-like figure was moving in the road near an old gravel pit. A second man on the same call said large tracks had been seen. Responding deputies did not see the figure but stayed in the area for hours listening to loud shrieking that moved around them.

A group camping with horses heard the horses startle something at dusk and then saw a huge brown figure about 6 feet tall running extremely fast across a meadow away from the horses in a cloud of dust. One tethered horse was so frightened it jumped over another horse. The witness concluded the figure could not have been a bear because of the sound it made and the way it ran.
