On the return, two team members scanned behind them with thermal and captured a large heat signature behind a tree plus a smaller signature nearby. The group interpreted it as a large female with a juvenile and discovered large footprints there the next day.

In spring 1980 the witness was working with a tree-planting crew on state land along the Columbia River when the crew noticed two upright figures walking side by side in a valley below. From atop Beacon Rock, the witness watched a huge black figure climb a railroad bed in two strides and then stride across a pasture toward the river, passing among cows that looked only half its height and seemed undisturbed. A smaller figure that moved on all fours trailed behind it. The larger figure squatted for a time at a tributary before crossing back across the meadow and being lost from view.

The witness was resting on a mountainside overlooking a valley and lake when they noticed a large dark figure emerge from trees at the bottom. The figure climbed a steep clear-cut hill in about a minute without stopping, swinging its arms with hands appearing below the knees. It continued over the top and into the trees. The witness emphasized its large size, dark color, and unusually fast steady pace.

Shortly before dawn on a foggy morning, the witness was driving toward a fishing area when headlights illuminated a large fur-covered creature in the road. The creature moved across the highway and leapt up a steep roadside embankment estimated at 14 feet high.
