The witness and a relative camped overnight beside a creek after scouting the area for hunting. Around 10 p.m. a loud nearby branch break woke them, but a flashlight search revealed nothing. An hour later distant howls woke them again, with further responses heard after the witness howled back, and footsteps were later heard near the tent. Next morning a single large deep footprint was found near the tent and photographed.

Four campers spending the night near a creek reported hearing aggressive vocalizations described as a mix of whoops and screams, then seeing the silhouette of a very tall figure with a wide torso about fifteen feet away. They retreated to their truck before setting up camp, and later that night heard a deep whistle, crunching footsteps, pebbles hitting tents, and a branch breaking, along with a foul odor while a small dog growled. By morning a chair was found knocked over, but no tracks were located on the rocky ground.

The witness was sitting in a tree stand hunting elk in the late afternoon when the wind shifted. He heard brush breaking as an unseen animal approached on a trail, stopped, then circled 50-60 yards away out of sight while emitting repeated loud rising whoops. After the sounds stopped he climbed down, glassed the area without seeing anything, and later left apples on a stump that were gone when he retrieved the stand.

They then heard heavy thumps retreating down the brushy ridge and briefly saw a big black object moving fast into the trees on the flat below. A large slender figure that had frozen in place then took two strides up the bank, glanced back, and went into the woods. During a daytime hike the dog became reluctant to continue and stayed close, and the witness noticed rustling in brush. Late that night the dog barked and dug frantically at the closed tent door, then after voices inside the tent heavy two-footed footsteps were heard running away.
