Late at night at a forest reservoir campground, the witness's adult son was reading in his tent while his parents slept nearby. His small dog began shaking and growling as very heavy bipedal footsteps approached, stopped at and partially circled the tent, an approach that repeated three times despite shouting. The son briefly exited with a weak light but saw no one and only heard heavy walking receding. The next morning no tracks were found near the tent except deer tracks some distance away.

Three people riding horses in snow noticed large bare-foot tracks with toes alongside many animal tracks. The main trackway came up from a gulch, followed the road, then returned downhill, with smaller tracks joining from a steep draw. They examined the prints up close and photographed them, noting three sizes with the largest about 17 inches long.

The witness was driving at night on a highway near Shingletown when the truck headlights illuminated a tall, dark, upright figure crossing the road. The figure reportedly walked with a very long stride and swinging arms, glanced toward the truck, then went up a roadside embankment and disappeared before the witness could speak to the passenger.

In late summer 2006, two companions fishing from a canoe in the middle of a remote mountain lake heard a very loud, long growl-yell coming from a hillside. They froze and visually scanned the hillside for several minutes but saw no movement and heard no further sounds, then packed up and left. The witness stated neither person had heard a similar sound despite extensive time outdoors.

Late at night while sitting by a nearly out campfire, the witness heard branches breaking at decreasing distances and then very heavy bipedal-sounding footsteps approaching. After waking a companion, both heard a few more steps before the sounds stopped. Nothing was seen because it was dark and the source was in trees. No footprints were searched for the next day.
Family hears late night vocalizations near Lake McCumber
The witness and companions stayed overnight near a meadow at Lake McCumber and heard a strange high-pitched, human-like howling from the meadow off and on between 3 and 5 a.m. Two companions stayed up on the deck listening while the witness listened from bed. No creature was seen. The next morning a fawn without its mother was noticed in the meadow.

The witness and his wife were sleeping in a small cabin near Viola when the wife woke the witness after hearing a strange sound. The witness then heard a loud, repeated scream-like call lasting about 25 seconds from some distance away. He did not recognize it as a known animal but later found it matched sounds on bigfoot-related sites, while stating he could not say what it was.

The witness, a tour guide, was waiting at the mountain-top cavern entrance with two tourists for the return bus on a cloudy day. They heard repeated thumping and noticed treetops moving along a ravine about 200 yards away, then briefly watched a huge bipedal figure with swinging arms run downhill toward the lake and disappear while footfalls remained audible. About 150 yards up the road he noticed a large human-like footprint on the creek bank measuring about 17 inches long and 6 inches wide. Three people in a small pickup at night on Highway 299 saw a creature in the headlights walking ahead of them up a hill. The witness described a very tall, heavy, reddish-brown ape-like animal with long straggly hair and long swaying arms that walked with bent knees, estimating it at 7 to 8 feet tall with shoulders level with a 55-mile highway sign. All three occupants were frightened.

The witness waited on the porch and heard a very loud, guttural sequence of chirps and a scream, and noticed a pungent odor worse than skunk. No source was seen during a search, but the next morning a next-door neighbor said someone had been outside her elevated back window overnight.

While outside the truck, the witness heard a loud screech followed by fast, heavy impacts like large bipedal steps approaching down a slope. The witness scrambled into the truck and while driving away saw a dark shaggy upright figure behind the truck in tail-light glow and moonlight. The witness fled down the mountain and left the area after daylight.

In the summer of 1990, the witness and a companion were camping and preparing dinner just before nightfall when they heard a loud distant howl. Both reacted to the sound, which the witness estimated as about a mile away and coming from something large. The witness said the sound closely matched a howl recording on the website.

Two hunters were camped overnight during deer season when they noticed a bipedal figure crossing a moonlit clearing. Shortly after, they heard loud screaming and crashing in brush on the hillside, followed by a log coming down, a strong urine-like odor, and renewed screams. Later, from inside their tent, both saw a very large shadow pass between the campfire and the tent. The next morning they found no tracks but noticed a large log newly present near their vehicle by the spring.

A homeowner had shot a deer and hung it in a tree behind the house. That night while going to let dogs out, he heard an unfamiliar scream and saw a large ape-like creature in the yard. The creature seized the deer and fled into the forest, tearing out a stretch of barbed-wire fence and leaving hair and tracks. A friend visiting the next day was shown where it stood and ran, including the tracks and hair.

The circling continued for about 1.5-2 hours with branch-breaking sounds, grunting, and a strong wild odor, while they remained lying down without looking. Near dawn the sounds moved off to the southwest, and in daylight they found disturbed pine needles and broken tree limbs nearby.
