Homeowner hears possible howls east of Winter Springs

Early on June 30, 2008, the witness was carrying trash to the curb in the dark when a loud, long ascending whoop ending in a booming oop was heard from a treeline across the street near a lake. The sound seemed aimed at the witness, carried very far, and did not match any known animal, causing fear and retreat to the garage. An owl called shortly afterward from the same area but sounded distinctly different.
