Hunter hears loud vocalization and is nearly trampled by a spooked Elk north of Burns

The witness and a relative were elk hunting and following two blood trails in a steep ravine at dusk. After a wounded bull ran past the witness, a very loud angry howl or growl came from the wooded hill below. The sound was described as far louder than an elk bugle and spooked horses in the area, and a strong foul odor was noted.
