The witness returned to the parked truck after walking dogs uphill on a road. He found a truck door open, then two rocks came from an uphill ridge, one landing in front of the truck and a larger one passing close to him. He heard two low grunts from that direction and later heard brush moving away as he left to get assistance.
Hikers observe a tall human-like figure near Rawley Springs
The witness and a companion were hiking in a national forest when they stopped to rest and eat. After standing up, they noticed a very large reddish-brown figure standing down the mountainside and watched it for about 90 seconds. The figure then walked away into the trees before they could photograph it. A few minutes earlier they had heard an animal sounding in distress from the same direction.
Driver has possible daylight sighting on US Route 33 outside Rawley Springs
The witness was driving on Route 33 near Rawley Springs in the afternoon and saw a tall black animal running on two legs about 200 feet ahead. The creature stopped at the wood line, twisted at the waist showing a hairy back and a long hairy arm, then went into the woods. When the witness reached the spot and looked into the woods, the creature was gone.
Daytime sighting by young bicyclist near Nottingham
The witness was riding a bicycle on trails behind the house on a summer day. After hearing stomping noises and then a loud deep vocalization, the witness stopped and saw a large hairy figure about 20 feet away hitting a tree. After brief eye contact, the figure stepped into the woods and disappeared, and the witness rode home quickly.

The witness was driving east on Route 33 at night with a friend when headlights illuminated a tall, black-haired biped walking behind a guardrail. Shortly before the sighting, a loud sustained high-pitched sound was heard. The witness felt panicked and shaken, while the passenger reported only seeing a black blur.
Nature photogapher hears possible woodknocks on Skyline Drive
The witness stopped alone at a roadside overlook in Shenandoah National Park to photograph the sunset. Just before 5 p.m., the witness heard sets of loud wood-on-wood knocks from the woods in three different directions around the overlook. The witness stated the sounds were unfamiliar and unlike typical forest noises heard during many years visiting the park.
Possible wood knock interaction by kayaking fishermen on Switzer Lake
The witness and a cousin were kayak fishing on a mountain lake when they heard knocking from a steep forested bank. They paddled closer and exchanged knocks by striking the kayak with a paddle for several minutes until the sounds from shore stopped. They waited and watched the area but saw no person or animal.
Vocalizations heard near Rockingham
The witness was awakened around 3 a.m. by very loud, clear repetitive whooping calls near the house, with a second more distant caller responding. Around 4-4:15 a.m. the calls resumed louder and closer, alarming the dog, prompting the witness to check sheep, goats and chickens with a flashlight and see nothing, after which the calls stopped. The witness could not match the sound to any known local animal.
Recollection of a college outing interrupted by possible vocalizations and rocks thrown near Rawley Springs
A large college group camped late at night in a remote, densely wooded rocky area. After midnight they heard large rocks being thrown into and around a nearby stream and loud wailing, howling and grunting sounds that grew closer when the camp was loud and receded when quiet. After confirming all members were present, most of the group left early while about 10-15 stayed quietly until dawn as the sounds grew more distant.
