Campers have a night-time encounter in Mark Twain National Forest
About seven years ago a group camping near a secluded lake sat around a campfire late at night. A small bipedal figure about four feet tall emerged from the woods, ran toward the lake in moonlight, circled while waving its arms and vocalizing, then ran back into the woods. The group searched in the morning but found no tracks on the hard ground.

The witness and a relative were driving home from church at night when they saw a tall, upright, hair-covered figure standing in the middle of the rural road. They stopped and watched it look toward them for about 15-20 seconds before it leaped over a roadside fence from a standing start and moved bipedally across a field. The pair drove home frightened and locked the house, and did not see it again.
