Two young boys see crouching animal
In summer 1980 the witness and a companion were hanging out listening to the radio on a moonlit trail when a companion pointed out a hunched figure holding a small tree about 30 feet away. They shouted at it, advanced for a better look, then fled home in fear. The next day they compared descriptions and agreed closely.

The witness, young daughter, and small dog walked an unlit road through wetland to the water. After ice-breaking triggered a heavy thud on one side, the return ice-break triggered overlapping whoops with chatter on the other side. The daughter then reported a large black man-like figure crossing the road ahead and staring at them; no tracks were found on frozen ground.
