Whooping sound wakes and unnerves a couple near West Alexandria
The witness was at home in bed when repeating loud whoop-like sounds woke him and seemed to approach the house, getting louder and more frequent. He woke his wife, who also heard the sound, and went to the back door with a shotgun. When the sound was very close, he fired three rounds toward it, after which the vocalizations stopped and the source receded through the woods behind the house and was never heard again.
Family going fishing find a large, strange footprint in a sandbar near Gratis
Three people scouting Twin Creek for a fishing spot found a single very large footprint on a rocky sandbar. They photographed it beside a size 13 foot for scale and measured it at 15 inches long. Investigators later visited the exact site with the witnesses but found no additional tracks due to rocky substrate.

When the witness was 15, they were fishing with their dog on Twin Creek near dark and noticed the dog acting uneasy and staring across the creek. While walking home through woods toward a cornfield, the dog growled, whimpered and backed away at a thick cedar stand. Two boys were walking their dog in the evening when they noticed a strong rotten-egg smell and saw a large hairy creature. The creature chased them across a field toward home, taking very large steps, and disappeared from view near railroad tracks and a highway. After reaching home they told a parent, who called law enforcement, and responding deputies searched the area.

The witness was hunting deer from a ground chair and fell asleep. After waking to a noise and standing up, the witness heard screaming, growling/grunting and trees snapping as something moved away quickly. The witness followed snapped trees to the edge of the hardwoods but found no trail in leaf litter, then returned toward the vehicle.
