Campers experience possible harassment all night in the Red River Gorge
Three people camping overnight near a creek reported prolonged howling in the evening and a close loud scream during the night. Through the night they heard movement around the tents, sticks hitting trees, branches breaking, and had objects disturbed including a tent stake pulled out. They also reported white eyeshine, a pungent odor, a dark figure seen in the treeline after daylight, and footprints and torn branches found in the morning.
Pedestrian has nighttime sighting along the Red River
Around 2:30 a.m. on a clear night, the witness was walking home along a road paralleling a river when a strong bad odor and a loud splash drew attention to the water. About 60 feet away, a large, broad-shouldered, dark, long-haired figure stood upright in the river and appeared to be fishing, moving, splashing, and pausing to look around. The witness watched for several minutes while continuing down the road before leaving the area.

In August 1978 a 10-year-old camping with family walked alone at dusk to fetch ice. On a muddy road the witness smelled a strong odor and found a single large bare five-toed footprint, then noticed a dark hairy biped 50 to 80 yards away across a stream that walked gracefully into the treeline in a few seconds. The witness ran back to camp, and relatives later saw the same footprint.
