The main witness was bicycling to work in the early morning when he heard heavy steps coming from the woods beside the road. He stopped and shone a flashlight toward the sound, and the source moved back into the woods breaking branches while making grunting noises. He was frightened and rode away quickly.

When the witness was about 10 years old, they accompanied a friend and the friend's mother to a small cemetery to visit a grave. After placing flowers, the group heard a crash at the woods edge and saw a large dark hairy creature standing behind the back fence about 50 yards away. The creature grunted and shuffled back into the woods, and the group quickly got in the car and left.

After limb-snapping and a deep primate-like call, something approached the tent at night, growled in front and then circled it with light footsteps on pine needles. At daylight they found a large footprint-like impression inches behind the tent where one companion's head had been.
