The witness was alone in a tent at camp while elk hunting and trying to sleep. He heard an unusually deep throat-clearing sound, then about 20 minutes later heard two rocks land near the tent with loud thuds. Shortly after, he heard drawn-out whoop-like calls coming from multiple directions around camp. He remained in the tent overnight and left after sunrise without checking for sign.
Family startled by overpowering cries near their rural home
Late at night the witness and her two children were eating at home when a very loud, prolonged cry was heard from near the front yard. The sound lasted several seconds and frightened the family, who froze and then moved upstairs to wait. No animal was seen and a later check reportedly found no tracks.

The witness was standing on a deck overlooking a reservoir in the morning when an extended human-like animal call was heard from a nearby forested area. The sound lasted several minutes and was described as spine-tingling, lost-sounding, and unlike anything heard during extensive hiking and camping experience. No animal was seen.

The couple reported hearing a very loud animal-like vocalization for about 20 minutes at night from their cabin. A few days later they found two large footprints in a wash near a marshy area a couple hundred feet from the cabin. They photographed the prints and estimated the first water-filled track at 16 to 18 inches long.

The witness and his brother were cutting firewood near a river when the witness noticed movement on a distant slope across the river. After losing it briefly, the witness watched through binoculars as a bulky dark-haired figure walked upright downhill for about 100 yards. About half an hour later while loading the truck in near-darkness, the witness heard an unfamiliar high-pitched squealing noise from upriver.
