A couple driving slowly at night in snow claim a very tall, dark, massive figure crossed the highway in front of their truck and nearby cars while illuminated by headlights. They said it covered the road in only three to four long strides and then vanished to the west side. After a pause they agreed to each other that it had looked like bigfoot.

The witness was driving with a companion from Yellowstone's east gate toward Cody after dark when a dark, large bipedal figure crossed the road in front of the van in about two strides. Both occupants joked about having seen a sasquatch and attributed it to tiredness, continuing without turning back. The figure glanced at the vehicle, then crossed the highway in a few long strides, grasped the guardrail, and descended into a culvert out of sight. The witnesses stopped briefly then drove on to the park entrance, waiting until morning to compare independent written accounts.
