Years after the witness's father died, having lost his natural voice decades earlier, the witness stood in the yard in summer and heard the father's earlier voice calling the witness's name from woods behind the house. After dark they repeatedly heard a childlike crying sound from a nearby ridge, had small river stones tossed into camp, and later heard loud knocks alternating with the cries. At daylight they hiked out, noticing concentrated scat and disturbed ground near oak trees, and concluded the activity was not from a person.
