Sasquatch sighting near Oconee County (2004)
After returning late from out-of-town work in summer, the witness received a neighbor call about a large black figure behind the house. Grabbing a handgun, the witness ran around the house and saw a furry massive figure moving through bushes. A running chase followed across fences, a ravine, garden and barn path to a creek and hill, where the figure pulled away uphill and vanished.

Years after the witness's father died, having lost his natural voice decades earlier, the witness stood in the yard in summer and heard the father's earlier voice calling the witness's name from woods behind the house. The experience was initially thought to be a ghost or hallucination, later considered possible mimicry.

Three college roommates hiked to the Thompson River to fish and camp overnight. After dark they repeatedly heard a childlike crying sound from a nearby ridge, had small river stones tossed into camp, and later heard loud knocks alternating with the cries. At daylight they hiked out, noticing concentrated scat and disturbed ground near oak trees, and concluded the activity was not from a person.
Daylight sighting by motorists on Hwy 24 near Seneca
The witness was riding as a passenger with a relative on a familiar road to visit friends when both noticed an animal in the road near a bridge over a swampy pond. After the driver slowed and sounded the horn, the animal stood upright, looked toward the car, then sprinted quickly across the swamp toward the woods. The witness stated familiarity with bears and claimed this was not a bear. When they returned shortly after, they saw remains of a small animal in the road that it may have been eating.
Recollection of a twilight encounter on Lake Keowee
While walking in a remote forested area near a lake at twilight, the witness saw a large reddish figure cross a dirt road and enter dense forest. The figure reportedly noticed the witness, then ran uphill paralleling the road while emitting a loud distress-like scream with heavy footfalls. The frightened witness fled the area.
Partial sighting near Oconee County
As a young child fond of ape films, the witness saw a face with outlined eyes looking in the bedroom at night. The child hid under covers and reported the next day that a film ape character had watched, which parents dismissed as imagination.
