Daylight sighting by two hikers at trailhead for Hideout Hollow in Buffalo National River
The witness and a companion arrived at a forest trailhead around noon to hike to a waterfall. After hearing an odd sniffing sound at the car, they started down the trail and saw a large brown hair-covered biped running through the woods with its arms up and dark hairless hands. As they retreated quickly to the car, something moved fast over their heads through the branches, frightening them enough to leave the area.

Three family members driving home at night saw a tall dark two-legged figure standing in the road ahead. As their car approached, the figure leapt quickly off the road into the woods. After passing, they saw it again behind them near the roadside, apparently staring at the car.

The witness was bowfishing from a boat when he noticed an upright, hair-covered entity standing on the bank about thirty yards away. When the entity turned toward him it gave a loud high-pitched scream, then walked away into the woods while the witness watched and slapped the water with a paddle. The witness described the walk as stooped with bent knees and swinging arms.
Nighttime roadside sighting by a motorist outside Joplin
The witness was driving a lifted pickup back toward campus around midnight with two sleeping passengers. While rounding a sharp curve in a wooded area near a creek, the witness saw a large upright creature standing in the ditch a few feet from the road and viewed its upper body eye-to-eye for a few seconds. After passing, the witness looked back and the creature was gone.
Early evening sighting by motorist two miles outside Bon Wier
The witness and their spouse were driving on Highway 190 in southeast Texas at dusk in fall 1981 or 1982. A tall, lean, hairy figure stepped into the road ahead of them, paused near the center to look toward the vehicle, then continued off the road into vegetation. The pair watched for about ten seconds and drove past without stopping.
