Daylight sighting by hikers in Ventana Wilderness

The witness and his son were hiking a ridgeline trail with the son walking ahead. The son encountered a large hairy biped running toward him, screamed, and watched it run past him downhill into dense brush. The witness ran forward after hearing the scream, heard loud crashing in the brush, and caught only a brief glimpse of a dark shape disappearing.
