From a sixth-floor hotel balcony before dawn, the witness watched a tall hair-covered biped for five to six minutes at a distance. The being stared, rocked side to side, and repeatedly leaned to pull bark from a large pine tree. Afterward the witness fetched security and later returned in daylight to find fresh bark, deep ground indentations, and possible scat.

During a 1983 backpacking trip in wooded hills in Arkansas, the witness and friends found three oval rock-and-leaf structures described as nests, with bark-stripped branches beside two of them, plus a very large scat pile and a pine tree with bark stripped in long strips. They remained in the area two more days hearing unidentified spooky noises but reported seeing no animal.
ATV riders near Berea have scary ride out of woods at night
The witness and four companions were riding ATVs at night when they heard a single loud branch snap followed by dead silence. After moving to a clearing, a large log and then a limestone slab were thrown from an uphill wooded area toward a companion's ATV, barely missing the rider. Loud thumps and breaking branches suggesting something heavy running downhill followed, and the group started their vehicles and left quickly.
