Hikers hear knocks from multiple directions 10 miles south of Watertown
The witness was hiking with a relative and a dog when they turned back on the trail. They heard three separate sets of three rhythmic knocks that sounded progressively farther away, noticed the woods had gone quiet and the dog remained alert, and felt watched until reaching the main trail. There was no visual sighting.

A group of girls on a summer-camp hike entered a swamp-like area where they heard twigs snap, smelled a foul odor, and saw a dark hairy bipedal creature moving among trees. The creature paused and looked toward them after one girl screamed, and the group fled. A counselor later told them it was a bear, which the witness doubted because it walked on two legs and was in a swamp.
