Two friends witness daytime road crossing near Conifer

Two companions driving home from a day trip saw a tall, dark grey bipedal figure run across the highway in a few long strides. It crossed the full width of the road and climbed a steep embankment with little apparent effort. When they stopped at the crossing site they noted several mule deer nearby that did not flee.
