Woman driving at night hits a man-like animal near Mayetta
Late at night the witness was driving home on a dirt road while on the phone. A tall hairy biped ran from right to left across the road and was struck by the left front bumper, cracking it, but continued without slowing. The witness turned back and found nothing at the scene except a strong foul odor. She described the creature as much larger than an adult man, with short brownish-red hair, a large head and very long massive arms, without seeing its face.
Two family members have night time encounters near Navidad
The witness went outside at night to take out trash and felt she was being watched. She turned to see a large hairy bipedal figure standing near a truck, staring at her. Frightened, she ran back inside as the figure left. A relative had reported a similar frightening encounter in a nearby pasture about a week earlier.
Trucker recounts possible early morning experience while making a delivery outside Spring Arbor
The witness stopped his grain truck on a dark rural road to prepare the trailer for unloading at a nearby farm. While outside the truck he heard loud pacing, branch-snapping and thrashing from woods on one side of the road and smelled a strong dead-animal odor from a ditch on the other side, accompanied by intense fear and a sense of being watched. He ran back to the cab and drove to the farm to unload. After unloading, he returned to the area and found the noises, odor, and fear were gone.
Bowhunter recalls dusk encounter on creek dike near Oak Grove
The witness was bowhunting in the evening along a creek and field dike when rustling was heard behind. A large bipedal creature came over the dike, descended the near side to close range, paused to look around, then walked away along the creek out of sight. The witness reported a strong musky odor that strengthened on approach and faded as it left, and fled home after hiding crouched on the ground.

In the late 1970s to early 1980s, residents around the Big Muddy River reported a foul-smelling, hairy hominid-like creature. Witnesses described seeing and hearing it near the river and finding footprints, with size and color accounts varying. The writer compiled these secondhand accounts and notes the creature was never reported as violent.
Young couple encounter a rancid smell
The witness and his wife drove a short distance from a relative's home to their trailer to pick up diapers for their baby. At the house they found their penned hounds barking unusually and noticed a strong rancid odor at the back of the house. They collected the diapers and left without further investigation that night. The following evening they heard a television news account of a nearby sighting that also mentioned a rotting-meat smell.
