In 1960, a man claimed to encounter a very hairy figure on the Pottawatomie Indian Reserve northwest of Topeka, Kansas. He was reportedly so frightened that he drove across a yard and struck a clothesline. The account survives only as an excerpt from a published book.

Scream near Jackson County
An avid outdoorsman fishing at night with his wife heard screams from the back end of a lake in Jackson County. He abandoned tackle, rods, chairs, lanterns and a grill with catfish cooking, fled with his wife in the truck and never returned. He later moved counties away and cried recounting the event.
