Father and daughter have possible late night sighting on edge of Huron National Forest
Around 2:30 a.m. the witness and his daughter were walking from the house to a detached garage bordering the national forest when they noticed movement and a white, human-like furry figure about 100 feet away looking toward them. The figure moved very quickly in a half-circle and crouched near a tree, then was seen standing motionless with its back to them as they approached. They ran back to the garage frightened and later discussed that they could not match it to a known animal.
Resident's sighting three miles north of Wurtsmith Air Force Base
Late at night the witness was returning from taking trash to the dumpster when he saw a tall brownish upright figure moving away from his open garage toward his camper. He lit its upper body with a flashlight and watched it glide silently behind the camper and then into the thick woods without a sound. He retrieved a rifle and searched the woods but found the terrain difficult to cross and found no tracks. A neighbor suggested a bear on its hind legs, but the witness felt the thin human-like form and silent movement did not fit.
Daylight sighting by a young man fishing near Whittemore
The witness was fishing alone along a river when a rock splashed nearby. The witness then saw a large apelike animal leaning over the bank to look at them, heard loud knocks and a sudden silence, and later watched it cross a fence and run uphill out of sight across a field. Shortly afterward three relatives said they had heard a growl and heavy footsteps leaving nearby woods.
Couple sees 7-8' tall "ape-like creature" in Tuttle Marsh
On a snowy pre-dawn morning, the witness and his wife returned to his ground blind to look for a deer wounded the prior evening. As snow began, they watched a tall, ape-like, fur-covered biped approach and walk past the blind for about ten minutes before they left quickly through deep snow. The witness estimated its height at 7-8 feet by comparing it to tree limbs relative to his own height.
Possible ongoing activity outside Whittemore
The witness reports recurring nighttime activity over many years at her parents' wooded property. She and others hear footsteps pacing them along the tree line, loud crashing movement, screeching sounds and cracking noises, often accompanied by a strange smell. Family members and visitors have also reported red eyeshine and ape-like figures, and large footprints were found in snow. An investigator later visited, interviewed family members and noted unusual stick and vegetation features in the woods.
Former Michigan native recalls possible activity near National City
When the witness was about nine, she was walking with an older neighbor girl in the back portion of family property. Something nearby growled loudly at them, and after they walked about 200 feet into the front pasture it growled and shrieked again. The companion looked, exclaimed, then grabbed the witness and ran with her to the house. The witness never learned what the companion may have seen, and the companion never walked there with her again.
