Footsteps and wood knocks heard near Gospel Lakes, 20 miles south of Grangeville
The witness and a companion were camping overnight in the bed of their truck when the witness awoke to heavy footsteps passing by. The companion reported sensing an unidentifiable sound from the animal that the witness did not hear. About five minutes after the animal left, the witness heard three distinctive wood knocks.
Dogs alert homeowner to a late night visitor outside Kamiah
The witness was awakened around 3:30 a.m. by dogs barking in an outdoor kennel and went outside with a flashlight to investigate. She noticed movement near fruit trees by the driveway and saw a very tall figure that paused behind a tree before running uphill on two legs with swinging arms. The figure looked pale silvery-gray and shaggy, glanced over its shoulder, then leapt off the road down a steep embankment into brush. Next morning she found matted grass and a hole in the bramble where it left the road, but no clear tracks.
Elk hunters find footprints on Stanley Butte
The witness was elk hunting on horseback in the Idaho wilderness with a companion when their horses became unmanageable near a ridgetop. They discovered very large fresh human-like footprints in snow that did not look like bear tracks. After moving away, they learned that two hunters camped in the next valley had abandoned camp after reporting a screaming animal throwing logs and destroying their camp.
Odor near Kamiah, Idaho
In the days before the main sighting the witness noticed a skunk-like odor, trash bags pulled open without a mess, and kennel food bowls overturned with kibble spilled.
