A couple hiking in a wooded nature preserve stepped aside for other hikers and noticed a large footprint off the trail. They photographed it and continued on. A short distance farther they found a small tree freshly broken in half and bent down, which they found odd given its proximity to the print.

The witness was hiking a loop trail in a nature preserve in the afternoon. After hearing something large move away through the woods, the witness noticed a single large footprint on the hard trail surface and photographed it. A loud crash in the trees overhead then frightened the witness, who left the area quickly.

Near dusk the witness was outside with puppies when she heard whistles and her dog reacted to a rustle in the forest. She looked up and saw a tall, very dark hairy creature holding down a branch, which then released the branch and stepped back into the trees. After her roommate came outside, both heard trees being moved nearby.

The witness was walking with two relatives along an oil access road while searching for an old cemetery. The witness saw a tall blonde stocky creature about 25 feet away staring, then watched it move between trees while staying upright on two legs. Frightened, the witness ran to the vehicle and urged departure, first describing the sighting after reaching the main road while the companions reported seeing nothing.

A hunting party spent a fall day along a gasline, noticing a putrid odor and a large bare footprint in the morning. In the afternoon two members heard heavy movement circling in brush, and one moved closer and watched part of a tall dark figure step from behind a tree. The observer described a seven-foot-tall heavily built figure with long arms, no visible neck, and reddish eyes. The pair left the area and discussed the sighting on the drive home.

Late one spring night in 1979, the witness and a sibling were in bed in a downstairs bedroom when they saw a tall hairy figure looking in the window and then at the back door apparently trying to get inside. Their mother also saw the figure at the back door and called out for help before contacting the sheriff. Deputies searched the surrounding woods but reportedly found only a burned area of ground from apparent vomit and a small knocked-down tree.
