Nighttime sighting by a motorist west of Newville
A woman driving her family home on a very foggy night saw a broad bipedal figure on the roadside with its back to the road. She described a cone-shaped head and hair shining in the vehicle lights before it disappeared as the car passed. Her husband was asleep and did not see it, and a later return to the spot found nothing.

Late at night the witness was driving home from a second-shift job along a rural road by Mud Creek. The headlights illuminated a tall, greyish hairy figure standing on two legs and leaning on a wire fence beside a cornfield. After a few seconds the figure turned and ran on two legs into the corn toward nearby woods.

Six people stood just inside the treeline after dusk talking. They heard two high-pitched screams from the woods about an eighth of a mile away. The group froze and then discussed the unfamiliar sound. The witness watched the treeline for the rest of the evening but saw and heard nothing further.

Around 3 a.m. on a cold clear night during Christmas season, the witness got up for a drink and looked out the back-door window toward a lit road. He watched a tall, hairy, upright figure with long arms climb a steep bank, grip a bridge rail, cross the two-lane road in one stride, and disappear down the opposite bank. The observation lasted about five seconds under a street light.

In fall 1978, after hearing horses causing a disturbance at the barn below the house, the witness and a companion went down a trail to investigate. They saw a very tall hair-covered creature standing by a hitching post that only reached its knees. The companion fled uphill while the witness watched the creature walk away with long smooth strides into the trees, hearing light rustling as it moved uphill.

The witness and three companions were coon hunting at night with three hounds along a logging road beside a swamp. The dogs yelped in fear and ran past the group back toward the truck. The group heard a deep growl and loud limb breaking and wood knocking moving toward them from the swamp, then left the woods and found the dogs shaking in their boxes on the truck.

The witness, then a child, was walking from a cornfield to a nearby house to fetch water for a cousin. At a dirt road she came within about 10 feet of two small, hairy, human-like figures standing together on the opposite side. They looked at each other for about a minute before she ran to the house, and the figures were gone when she walked back.
