They fled to the house, and their father fired into the woods and heard something large crashing away.

The witness returned late from work on Fourth of July weekend to the family farmhouse. The dogs refused to go outside and stayed glued to him. Over about an hour, loud triple knocks moved from the far woods to a dead tree, then the metal barn causing horses to break out, then a car close to the house. A neighbor later found four marks where the witness heard three hits.
