In 1987 two companions hunting after school were walking on a dirt road in river bottoms and looking down a right-of-way. A large hair-covered figure at least 7 feet tall came out of the trees, walked along the tree line, then went back into the trees without crossing. The witnesses were carrying guns but ran home.

The witness, a child at the time, was inside a mobile home with family and a family friend late at night. A heavy thud on the side and prolonged pounding on the door were heard, and the friend saw a tall hair-covered figure looking in through a window. The group hid and screamed, called for help, and the noises stopped; prints were found outside the next morning.
