The witness backpacked solo to a remote campsite and spent the night in a hammock. Throughout the night he heard knocks, screams, howls, voices, footsteps, rocks and twigs landing nearby, and felt his tarp, hammock lines and gear being touched. He also noted a bent-tree structure near camp the prior evening and disturbed logs and tree piles in the morning, but reported seeing no creature.
Runner shadowed by possible biped keeping pace through heavy forest near Wirtz
The witness was road-running in the morning when they heard something in the adjacent woods keeping pace with them. The sound slowed, sped up, or stopped with the witness, paused near houses, then resumed in wooded stretches for about a mile. No source was ever seen due to fog and cover, and the witness felt the terrain was too rough to be easily matched by a person.
Hunter has daylight encounter near Gills Creek
The witness was riding an ATV down a washed-out road on a family farm when he briefly saw a tall, massive furred animal about 150-200 yards away that reflected sunlight and then retreated into thickets. After approaching the spot, he heard loud running with breaking limbs, then two loud bangs like wood knocks, followed by prolonged deer snorting and stomping before he left. He returned the next day to photograph suspected footprints and hair found on a limb.
Possible pre-dawn vocalization heard by hunter near Ferrum
The witness arrived in darkness to hunt deer from a tree stand on private land. While sorting gear in the stand, a very loud prolonged scream-howl ending in a growl occurred at close range, followed by movement in a nearby pine thicket and a brief foul odor. The witness stayed in the stand until first light, then left, and later visits had no further incident.
