Sighting by motorist in thick river bottom 75 miles northeast of Memphis
The witness was driving home on a highway with two passengers in the afternoon. He glanced toward woods near a river and saw a tall figure covered in dark fur from the side as it took several strides toward the river. The two companions were not looking that way and did not see it. He estimated it was about 7-8 feet tall with noticeably long arms, about 30 yards from the road, and said it was not a human.

Two people driving to a hunting area in the early morning darkness saw a creature run across the road in their headlights. It crossed from one cow pasture to another toward a bluff and river. The encounter was very brief, with the car coming close to hitting the creature.
