After eating in town, the witness drove a dirt road back toward camp in Custer State Park at night. Near the top of a hill, a tall hair-covered figure came down the left embankment, crossed the road directly in front of the truck in a single long step, and continued down the steep slope on the right, dislodging dust and rocks. The witness did not stop, returned to camp, loaded the horse which was uneasy, and left for home.
Hiking deaf Boy Scouts have midday sighting near Cape Horn Lake
A group of six scouts hiking toward a third lake on a midday break claimed an encounter with a biped. Three of the group saw a tall, broad, brownish-haired biped cross the trail from left to right about 75 feet ahead in one to two seconds. The three were shaken and described the same appearance to the other three, who had been engaged in sign conversation and had not seen it. The group approached the crossing site by a small meadow but found nothing further.
Hunter has early morning sighting near Challis
During a morning hunting drive, the witness sat on a steep slope and watched a tall, lanky figure cross the opposite hillside for about a minute through a riflescope. The figure moved quickly with long strides and traversed steep terrain easily, appearing larger than a relative who later crossed lower on the same slope. The witness first thought it was a companion but later learned no companion matched the location or clothing.

The witness was on a week-long deer hunt with family and others in Idaho. From a rock vantage point he watched a large black animal move on all fours across an opposite slope through his rifle scope. When it reached a flat spot it stood upright, turned with long arms, and walked bipedally to the treeline, and his father in orange nearby looked half its size.
