Backpacker hears possible vocalizations near Mt. St. Helens
The witness was on a solo multi-day backpacking hike near Mount St. Helens. Around midday on the first day, deep whooping calls were heard coming from the canyon direction over about 10-15 minutes. The witness described the tone as unusually deep and resonant and unlike known animal calls.

In August 2011 in the same area the witness heard three whoop calls that began person-like then rose to a monkey-like trill from 1 to 3 miles away.
