Man hears unusual sounds and strong odor while hiking with family

A family of four hiked the Big Creek trail loop near Lake Cushman in late morning. All four heard a prolonged mournful sound described as part howl and part groan. About half an hour later near a creek bridge they encountered an intense skunk- and ammonia-like odor that caused watering eyes and distress before dissipating as they continued.

Air Force trainee awakes with large, stinking figure standing over him

The witness was undergoing military survival training involving sleeping outdoors in a sleeping bag and awoke at dawn to find a large figure standing over him. The figure was seen only as a dark outline and had a strong odor while looking down as the witness lay speechless on his back. The figure then stepped back and walked away into the forest, after which the witness screamed and others came to his location.

The Database of Unexplained Encounters. Claims are recorded as claims: the Anomadex catalogues what people reported, where it was reported, and how sure I am that it was read correctly. It does not rule on what they saw.

A quick ask from the person behind the Anomadex: if you allow analytics, Google Analytics shows me which places, phenomena and searches you're most curious about. That tells me which regions and sources to add next and what to make easier to find. It never sees your name or anything you send me, and nothing is set unless you say yes. Privacy
