Police Officers hear unusual vocalizations at remote camp

Two companions were sitting on the porch of a rarely used hunting cabin at night after a noisy day of target shooting. They heard a loud, persistent, unfamiliar vocalization from across the hollow that seemed to move behind the camp over 15-20 minutes. They retired inside with no further incident, and a next-day search found no tracks or other sign.
