On a February night during a team camping investigation, the witness walked a sandy road near powerlines and found large footprint impressions in the sand. The team marked the clearest prints and returned in the morning to document a faint quarter-mile trackway ending at a creek, measuring 16-inch prints with a 54-inch stride. Three youths riding in the back of a pickup while spotlighting for deer saw a tall hair-covered figure standing off the road in trees. The spotlight lit it for a second or two, then the truck backed up and the figure was gone. The witnesses noticed a foul sour odor, became scared, and left the area.

Two companions hiking a trail to pick berries rounded a corner and saw a tall dark furry figure about 40-50 yards ahead moving away through palmettos, with only the upper body visible. The companion reported loud thrashing and breaking vegetation while the reporting witness recalled no sound. After about half a minute they fled the area in fright.
