Man hears characteristic howls in early morning hours near Mechanicstown
The witness and a companion were camping in a backyard around 3 a.m. when they heard loud howling from over the hills that continued for minutes. They first mistook it for distant dogs and then a bear. The next day the witness heard a televised 1994 howl recording from a nearby county and became convinced it was the exact same sound.

The witness heard a deep howling sound near livestock pens after leaving a relative's farmhouse, then drove down the hill beside the house. In high-beam headlights the witness saw a large, dark-brown, hairy biped jump from an embankment and cross the rural road in a few steps without looking at the vehicle. The animal disappeared into a field on the other side, and the witness returned home agitated and called to warn the household to lock doors.
Vocalizations heard by multiple witnesses
Five people were talking in a boat on Beaver Lake late at night when coyotes began yipping and howling. Shortly after, a much lower and longer howl was heard from several hundred yards away and repeated two or three times. Two companions suggested a Husky-type dog, but the reporter felt it was deeper than coyotes or a Husky and believed it may have been a Bigfoot. No further sounds were heard afterward.
