Sheriff deputy's corroboration of Fall 1997 report from Short Mt. area
In the fall of 1997 a woman caller reported seeing a creature in a heavily wooded house area. A dispatcher relayed the report to the writer. The creature reportedly moved with incredible speed after the woman screamed on seeing it. The writer recalls no further details, noting memory of specifics has faded.

Two witnesses hunting from tree stands heard something moving noisily in brush about 50 yards away. They then watched a large hairy creature walk across an old logging trail before it ran off through the forest, possibly after smelling them. After climbing down after dark they found no footprints but noted damaged undergrowth.
