Close encounter at sunset by miners near Sumpter
The witness drove a companion by ATV to a high switchback at sunset so the companion could get phone reception, then stepped away to give privacy. Hearing a deep warning growl from a tree cluster between them, the witness drew a sidearm and moved to get between the companion and the sound. While doing so, the witness watched a very large, fast, hair-covered creature cross open growth to reach the trees, after which it went silent, and both left promptly.
Young siblings at play have visual encounter
The witness and an older brother were playing in a creek below a ghost town when a hairy human-like creature moved up the creek past them toward the woods. They ran to alert family members having a barbecue nearby, and the relatives then also saw the creature as it went into the trees.

A man hauling firewood was driving down a dirt road in a canyon when he spotted what he first thought was a bear near a cattle salt box. When he was about 400 yards away, the dark figure stood up on two legs and quickly walked 40 to 50 yards down into a steep creek bottom. He did not stop to look for tracks and kept driving past the spot.
Hunter remembers possible howls and footprints near Baker City
Three hunters spread out in a draw heard a prolonged moaning-howling sound likened to a weak yell for help, with two of them also hearing a loud pop nearby. They traced the sound to a barbed-wire fence with freshly broken wire and torn-up ground but found no identifiable tracks. Returning to the same area the next morning, they found a large footprint in a cow patty which they linked to the previous day's sounds.
