Early evening sighting by motorist near Sorrento
The witness was driving west on a highway at dusk with headlights on when a tall hairy biped rose from a roadside ditch into the headlight beam. The witness described a very thin light-gray animal with a small round head, extra-long arms, and pale areas around the eyes standing upright. Alone and unable to turn, the witness continued driving without stopping.

The witness, then 8, was camping with relatives at a boat-access camp far back in the swamp. A little after 1 a.m., after a relative blew a hunting-dog horn to elicit an owl response, the group heard a single loud scream while lying on cots in the moonlight. The witness describes it as indescribable and unlike other swamp sounds, and says the group did not know what it was.
