Campers encounter large animal near Cle Elum
During a family reunion campout, four relatives walked to nearby creek pools at night to look for frogs. They smelled a strong fecal odor and heard rustling and two heavy thuds approaching from dense woods, then fled back to camp. After calming down, some returned armed but found no source, noticed the odor was gone and the dogs had not reacted, and one noted a den-like resting spot across the marshy creek.
Campers hear unusual grunting sound from behind tent
Four people settling to sleep at a deer hunting camp heard a deep grunting animal shuffling behind a tent. Two of them got up with rifles and lights to investigate, and the animal left quickly while grunting and breaking through brush. They never saw the animal and found no tracks the next morning.
Father and son hear heavy footsteps made by an apparent bipedal creature
The witness and a relative were walking in dense woods when they heard large, heavy bipedal footsteps on the other side of a dirt mound. The footsteps approached to within a few feet, stopped for several minutes, then resumed and moved away. As they left the area they noticed a strong ammonia-like odor.
Late evening sighting north of Bear Valley
The witness's grandfather was collecting ore samples at night when he heard heavy human-like footsteps moving around him in the snow. He then saw a large dark shape about 40 feet away. Frightened, he ran to his three-wheeler and fired a shot toward where the shape had been after it disappeared.
