Two witnesses observe creature on edge of forest
Two coworkers claimed to see a tall, dark, hair-covered biped accompanied by a black dog at a garden center entrance in Mashpee in the fall of 1980 or 1981 between 2 and 3 a.m. They reported extreme shock and drove away at high speed. The area was described as adjacent to the largest forest tract on Cape Cod near an Army training base.

In the late 1970s to early 1980s, residents around the Big Muddy River reported a foul-smelling, hairy hominid-like creature. Witnesses described seeing and hearing it near the river and finding footprints, with size and color accounts varying. The writer's brother was driving alone late at night on Skyball Mountain when he smelled a strong odor. He saw a large dark hair-covered figure in tall weeds beside the road that stepped onto the road and stared at him while he stopped and watched for a minute or more. The figure then walked into the woods on the other side of the road and he drove home.

Wagon occupants traveling on a dirt road near a lake stopped when a large hair-covered human-like figure was seen standing in the road ahead. One occupant covered the others in the wagon and the group turned the vehicle around to leave the area.
