The witness was sleeping in a remote cabin when loud wood-on-wood knocking sounds woke him in the early morning hours. The knocks repeated for several minutes very close to the cabin and stopped when he tried to rouse his companion. The next morning both looked around the area but found no explanation for the sounds.

A commercial fisherman on a multi-day photography trip in remote Alaska found an exceptionally large human-like footprint in gravel and sand. The impression was deeper than nearby bear tracks, showed no claw marks, was documented with a boot for scale, and could be traced for about a hundred feet. The witness and three companions took a late-night winter walk on game and recreational trails in the woods. On the way back they heard footsteps and branches breaking around them and something repeatedly threw snow or hard snow clods at them, while dogs barked nearby and a rank carcass-like odor was noticed. They jogged most of the way out, leaving around 3-3:30 a.m., and the witness believed deep snow ruled out a prank by a person.

Two cousins walking along a riverbank saw what the cousin thought was something standing about 100 feet ahead. The writer could not see it clearly without glasses, and the cousin then dismissed it as a stump. Going to the spot, they found three large human-like footprints in the sand, then left for a family picnic area.

The witness and a companion were tracking game near the edge of a swamp in the early morning when they found a single large human-like footprint among moose tracks. The witness described it as an 11-inch right foot with five toes and a large big toe, estimated to be a couple days old, with no other similar tracks found. Heavy rain prevented making a cast, and when the witness returned two days later the track was water-filled and unrecognizable.

Two companions on a caribou hunt watched from a ridge with binoculars as a large grey animal on hind legs crossed a distant clearing between spruce trees over about half an hour. They lost sight of it when caribou entered the area and it moved into heavy brush. After the hunt, a bush pilot suggested the description matched the Iliamna region's 'Hairy Man' known to local native people.

In late August 1997 the witness was camped alone without a tent on an aspen hillside after hunting grouse. In the middle of the night something circled the camp at close range, moving bipedally with shuffling steps, breaking branches and making low muttering sounds. After several minutes the witness spoke aloud saying he wanted no trouble, after which the prowler stopped and then trotted downhill away.

A man hunting small game claimed a tall, fully hairy figure walked across a dirt road near Skilak Lake. The figure paused, looked in his direction appearing surprised, then left swiftly into the woods. The witness watched from a few hundred yards away in daylight, loaded his shotgun because he was unsure of intent, and later chose not to tell authorities for fear of disbelief.
