The witness and a companion were playing cribbage on their truck tailgate on a mountain ridge in the afternoon when they heard loud knocks from different directions. After the second knock they walked toward the sound and the witness produced a howl and a knock, which was quickly answered by another knock. They then heard an additional knock from the opposite side of the truck and left the area after hearing nothing more.

The witness parked below the snow line to glass timber strips while scouting elk before season. Over an extended period around noon, repeated loud knocks were heard from varying directions and distances, first alone and later with a companion. Later three quick rock-like clacks were heard behind the witness followed by a faint wood knock, after which the area went quiet and the witness left.

While walking back toward his vehicle he heard repeated loud knocks from the timber that he did not believe were woodpeckers. He called out and searched the timber with binoculars but saw no person or animal. After several exchanges of knocks and silence he left the area feeling uneasy.

On August 8, 2020 at about 9:30 p.m., the witness was camping alone near the Saint Joe River when he heard three loud, drawn-out whoops from the hillside above and to the east over his music. He turned off his speaker and heard no further vocalizations, and the area became very quiet. He made a whooping sound back, received no answer, and it remained quiet the rest of the night. No other campers were nearby.

Late at night the witness went to let his dogs out at his mountain home and heard prolonged loud deep screaming and howl-like vocalizations estimated to be about a half mile away. The sounds continued intermittently for about 15 minutes while the night was otherwise quiet. The witness's dogs refused to go outside. No creature was seen.

The witness and a companion were camping overnight in the bed of their truck when the witness awoke to heavy footsteps passing by. The companion reported sensing an unidentifiable sound from the animal that the witness did not hear. About five minutes after the animal left, the witness heard three distinctive wood knocks.

The witness was camping with family along Marble Creek near Avery in July 2019. While preparing dinner at dusk, she heard repeated long siren-like howls echoing from higher elevation. She could not match the sound to known owls or large animals, and her dog hid under the table. She later compared it to the Ohio Howl recording on the BFRO site.

As he continued quietly, he heard a rushing sound overhead, then something struck a tree and the ground behind him, leaving a sapling branch bouncing. He found only a large thick slab of bark on the ground that he thought did not match the local regrowth, then abandoned the hunt feeling watched and uneasy.

A couple and their dog set up camp for the night in a closed campground area after kayaking. After dark they heard loud whoo-like calls from the woods to the north, with a second much louder call from close range and a fainter answering call from a distance. They judged the calls too loud to be an owl and were frightened, retrieving a pistol, but heard no vehicles, lights, footsteps, or odor. Nothing further was heard overnight and nothing appeared disturbed in the morning.

The witness and family were sleeping in a cabin when an extremely foul odor came in through an open window, prompting the witness to close the window and turn off a fan. The son later reported waking several times hearing something outside and feeling watched, and on the last waking seeing the outline of a head outside a high living-room window. A morning search found no tracks besides their own, no vocalizations were heard, and the indoor dog remained quiet.

While hunting in southeast Idaho in fall 2016, the witness was photographing a moose through a spotting scope and whistled to make it stop. Five high-pitched whistles came in immediate response from a brush patch, which the witness believed was not the moose. The witness then saw what looked like brown eyes in the brush where the moose had put its head down, and took grainy photos that showed nothing significant.

At the river's edge the witness found 10-11 very large human-like footprints that appeared to come out of the water onto the sand and then go back into the water. The companions also viewed the tracks. The witness photographed the tracks with a foot for scale but later lost the phone containing the images.

The witness was hunting near a marsh trail when he found two broken turtle shells sitting on logs. After sitting to wait for deer he heard whoop-like calls from five directions for about 15 minutes, some seeming to come from trees, until he stood and the area went silent. While walking out he heard a loud bat-like crack and whooshing through nearby brush but saw nothing.

The witness and his son were driving on a rough road while hunting for deer late in the day. The witness stopped to scan a ridge about 300 yards away and saw a large dark standing figure near a tree that they joked looked like Bigfoot but assumed was a stump. After driving to a dead end and returning less than three minutes later, the figure was gone. The witness remains uncertain what it was and is not convinced it was Bigfoot.

While hunting deer in the late morning, the witness found two sizes of barefoot-like impressions in frozen dirt along the same trail. Some impressions showed five toes with no claw marks. The larger prints were bigger than the witness's boot and spaced wider than the witness could step, while the smaller prints were roughly boot-sized.

The witness was hiking alone along a river trail toward a hot springs to rejoin the group. Two rocks landed close in front of him in succession, but he did not see what threw them. He first suspected companions ahead on the hillside, but they denied throwing anything when he arrived. He reported a strange, eerie feeling during the incident.

The witness spent the night in a parked car in a gravel pit with a dog while watching a movie on a laptop. Something abruptly pushed the rear of the car down about a foot, jolting the vehicle. The witness looked out, saw nothing in the darkness, and heard nothing leaving. The dog stayed curled up tightly without barking, which the witness described as highly unusual, and no tracks or marks were found the next morning.
