A family staying at a remote pack station heard a high-pitched whooping call for many minutes that seemed to approach and then pass toward a wilderness trail. The daughter went to the access road to meet the caller and saw a large, hair-covered, unclothed being with a long beard, long arms and a big mouth walking quickly past. She said it did not see her and was not vocalizing when seen. The next morning the family found a few possible wide-toed prints in the dust at the spot she indicated.

Companions who heard the sounds attributed them to a woodpecker, which the witness doubted because of the nighttime hour and irregular intervals. No vocalizations were heard.

A family hiking around a high-elevation lake above treeline near Leadville found footprint-like depressions in moss between glacial rocks and found additional depressions on further search. They also noted moss torn from boulders, chewed, and left in neat piles, and heard grouped rapping sounds on each of three visits over three days. They recorded the tracks and moss on video and made a cast of one track. No animal was seen.

The witness group was camped in a Sierra County campground and walked to an outhouse at night with a small flashlight. The witness shone the light toward the outhouse area below the trail and saw two red eyes that appeared to crouch down, then quickly returned to camp. A foul odor noticed around the outhouse lessened when others checked shortly after, and the next morning the group found small uprooted trees and no odor, estimating the eyes had been 7 to 8 feet off the ground.

A loud, powerful call was heard repeatedly from across a creek about 150 yards away, starting low and rising higher and unlike any known animal. From across the water the witness noticed a dark shape first taken for a stump, then saw it move while soaking in the water. After the witness climbed onto a dam, the figure apparently noticed the witness, stood up and walked to shore, and was gone by the time the witness finished crossing.

The witness was sitting by a campfire outside the family motorhome with two dogs while her husband was inside with the children. She heard repeated huge splashes in the nearby lake that sounded like large boulders being thrown far out into the water, and the dogs became frightened. She discovered her husband had been inside asleep and had not caused the sounds, and he then also heard splashes while inside. A check outside with a flashlight revealed nothing further.

The witness and a companion were in bed talking in the early morning when they heard a distant loud howl/moan that rose in pitch for several seconds. The sound repeated a second time slightly longer, with an echo afterward. The witness said it did not sound mechanical, like a siren, or like a known animal such as a wolf or coyote.

A neighbor's chicken coop was raided at night and the birds were taken whole with no remains left. The witness, who also keeps birds, visited the coop to learn how to reinforce their own enclosure and found wire mesh bent and compressed in a way they felt required great strength. The witness collected hair samples from the scene for analysis, which were later reported to be mountain lion hair.

Two companions were hunting deer on a family property near Pine Mountain when they found a footprint and other tracks near a pine overhang, noticed a localized strong skunk-like odor, and saw a pile of fresh acorns with no oak nearby. As they moved uphill using alternating advances, each heard an unrecognized whistle and the sound of a large boulder rolling, with neither attributing the sounds to the other. Both reported a feeling of being followed uphill.

They heard a grunting humming sound with foot stamping and loud bull-like breathing, followed by total silence. They moved to the waterfall's edge, waited with no further sounds, and chose not to enter the woods, later suggesting it might be a Bigfoot residence.
