Two brothers riding an ATV on their wooded property in winter saw a large dark creature moving through pine trees about 75 yards away. The witness described it as at least 6 to 7 feet tall, stocky, with dark brown medium-length hair, but could not discern facial features. Frightened, they fled back to the house without returning to check for tracks.

The witness looked out into the flood-lit front yard and watched a large figure partly behind a tree move quickly uphill between trees in long strides. In summer 1973 the witness and a companion boated to a steep forested hillside intending to climb it. Shortly after landing and starting to climb, rocks began falling from above through the trees, increasing from small to football-sized, forcing them to retreat to the boat. Rocks continued to fall in the water around them with one or two landing in the boat, and they saw no one throwing them.

The witness went deer hunting before dawn on the Missouri side of the river after fresh snow. He found large human-like barefoot tracks in the snow and followed them a short distance. The trackway went along a field edge, backtracked inside the woods, and led to willow saplings with bark stripped off, then continued into thick brush toward the river. He did not see the trackmaker and stopped tracking to continue hunting.
