The witness waited on an ATV in a hollow while her companion walked up a ridge to check a trail camera. She heard a single long horn-like yell from ahead in the same hollow that she did not recognize from local wildlife. Her companion, who was out of sight on the ridge, said he did not hear the sound.

A group walking back to a cottage late at night on a dirt road through dense woods heard something large paralleling them. They stopped and watched a very tall, light-colored illuminated figure moving in a small circle near a mailbox, heard a short powerful grunt, and then saw reddish eyes watching from the woods. The eyes retreated deeper, dropped low and disappeared while the group returned to the cottage.

The witness was driving home at night on a dirt backroad when something struck the truck, leaving scratches and a dent on the passenger door. After calling for help, the witness with two relatives found footprints along the road and photographed them. While photographing they saw green eye-shine above the brush and a large upright shadowy outline, then heard wood knocks, growling and heavy footsteps before the eyes disappeared.

The witness was walking in woods near home and sat on a fallen tree when a strange grunting sound was heard to the left. The witness was frightened and called for a parent to come meet in the woods. No creature was seen.

The witness was driving slowly at night when she saw about ten wild pigs feeding near the road and a large dark hairy figure crouched beside a boulder behind them watching the pigs. She watched it for about a minute before driving on. She turned around a few minutes later to look again, but the figure was gone.
Couple find large footprint on Lake Cosby
A couple on a day trip to a lake house noticed an unusually large footprint in marshy mud beside the dock. They left the dock for a closer look and described a very deep right footprint about 11-12 inches long and 5 inches wide with well-formed toes, heading toward the lake. One witness found his own foot barely sank when trying to recreate the depth, and the pair had no camera and found the print gone on return.

On the last occasion he saw the back of a dark lower leg and foot about 30 feet away moving silently out of view. He described the figure as human-like and estimated its height at eight feet or more.

The witness stopped alone at a roadside overlook in Shenandoah National Park to photograph the sunset. Just before 5 p.m., the witness heard sets of loud wood-on-wood knocks from the woods in three different directions around the overlook. The witness was in bed late at night when barking dogs prompted them to go outside. They saw a dog run under the porch and something retreat into the woods. After shouting and tossing a small stone into the trees, the witness heard a shriek/howl and the stone was thrown back to land at their feet. The witness ran inside, then returned with a flashlight to find twisted vegetation and snapped branches and noted a foul smell.

The witness was hiking off trail in the morning when he found an intertwined tree formation topped with a woven dead Y-shaped branch that he felt could not have occurred naturally. He marked the location with GPS and photographed it. He later wondered if it could be a navigation or territory marker after reading a local encounter report from the same area.

After moving away from shore they heard a loud splash near the boat that they believed was a thrown object, followed by heavy footsteps retreating quickly. A strong musky odor had been present in the same area earlier that day.
