Firefighters find footprint in alpine area near Golden
The witness and a coworker were flown by helicopter to an alpine area above a remote wildfire to search for water for pumps. In a small snow patch they found a single large footprint with clear toes and no other prints around it. The witness felt the remote location ruled out other people being there.
Possible vocalization heard by camper in Strathcona Provincial Park
The witness was camping alone in high alpine forest near a creek and lake. Just before dark a loud crashing noise approached the camp from the creek, and the witness banged cooking pots to scare it away. About ten minutes later a loud drawn-out scream was heard from across the lake. The witness stated the scream was unfamiliar despite lifelong familiarity with local wildlife sounds.
Possible approaches to a boat ramp on Kootenay Lake
The witness reports sleeping aboard a boat moored in a marina slip and repeatedly hearing a heavy visitor come down the metal access ramp late at night and walk across the floating docks, displacing the dock enough to rock the boat. The steps sound widely spaced and cover the ramp and dock sections unusually quickly. The pattern recurred at least once each summer holiday over several years, with a bucket of fish offal sometimes found emptied afterward and whoop-like vocalizations also heard.
Nightime sighting at Bowron Lake campsite
The witness woke while family members slept to loud knocking sounds behind the tents. The witness woke their father, and they heard knocking from two directions around a meadow and knocked back, getting replies. They grabbed a camera and went to investigate, but the knocking stopped and they only heard branches cracking and heavy footsteps nearby.
Four footprints discovered ranging from 16 - 18 inches long
The witness and a coworker were doing slashing work in a dry logging block when the coworker said his safety helmet had been moved about 100 yards. The witness examined the helmet and saw no marks. Together they looked near where the helmet had been left and found about four large footprints in clay mossy ground.
Mother and child hear roar while lost on Read Island
The witness was hiking with a child after becoming lost and stopped by a berry thicket along an old logging road to pick berries. The witness heard footsteps moving through thick brush behind the thicket, called out, and felt watched as the steps paused then resumed more slowly. An unseen source then produced a very loud deep growl rising toward a roar, prompting the witness to flee with the child.
Campers report possible stalking at the north of Harrison Lake
The witness was on a multi-day winter camping trip with her husband in a remote area. One evening she left the camper to collect ice, felt watched, and hurried back. Later that night while sleeping in the overhead camper bed she awoke to the camper being nudged and heard a deep sniffing sound outside at the level of the sleeping area. Her husband slept through it, and no tracks were found because the snow was packed to ice.

Before dawn the witness heard the heavy outdoor freezer lid being lifted. After daylight she searched around the house and found two large bare footprints in the driveway about 50 feet away, with no other tracks nearby. She measured and photographed the prints as rain and mild weather melted them, and her daughter also viewed them.

Three people hunting in the early morning reached a frost-covered hilltop clearing. They found a shredded shrub with branches piled like bedding, numerous freshly dug holes, and a stump holding freshly picked plants, all without frost. They inferred something had been there just before them and left as they approached.

Four people were walking back to their vehicle from an undeveloped hot spring late at night when something kept pace with them in dense brush. After a comment that it was probably a bear, a very loud wail came from the brush, followed by something running downhill on two legs. The group fled to the vehicle and agreed they had heard a sasquatch. The witness returned the next day and found large human-like tracks in mud.
Forest service technician finds tracks in snow in a very remote area accessible only by helicopter
A forestry technician flown by helicopter to a remote alpine basin for road layout work reported finding barefoot tracks in snow in January. He described approximately six prints showing toes that were wider than human and not bear-like. He checked with the helicopter pilot, who said he had not walked in the basin.
Possible daylight sighting by hikers on the Stanley Glacier Trail (BC/Alberta border)
A group of six hiked down a mountain trail in the afternoon. A hair-covered biped crossed the trail between the lead hiker and the next person and leapt down an embankment into trees. The party glimpsed movement and heard crashing as a dog chased it, then watched a distant burnt tree sway with creaking before falling. Believing the creature pushed the tree over, the group left quickly.

In late summer 1986 two teenagers were on the deck of a house bordering wilderness when they heard a long, distant scream from behind the house. Startled, they hurried inside, secured the house, and the reporter briefly stepped onto the back porch with a shotgun. He heard distant movement but saw nothing further, and they stayed awake most of the night.

Two people hiking a mountain trail in the morning reported seeing the back of a large black animal. They estimated its height from where its back had touched a tree branch. They also reported a wet-dog-like odor, a trail made by the animal, and a bed of leaves under cedar trees.
Hiker finds tracks near Kelowna
The witness was hiking with a dog on Dilworth Mountain in late afternoon when they found two side-by-side sets of large bare human-like footprints in melting snow. The dog eagerly followed the scent along the tracks into the trees, which alarmed the witness, who called the dog back and left quickly. The witness returned the next day to photograph the tracks but could not relocate them after rain.
Numerous incidents near Powell River
In early summer 1984 the witness, then 14, and a companion rowed to an island in Haywire Bay for an overnight fishing trip. Late at night they heard repeated very large splashes from the mainland side that sounded like large rocks being dropped or thrown into the water. They considered a beaver tail slap but felt the timing and resounding sound did not fit. They told their parents, who attributed it to teenage imagination.

In summer 1983 a camp leader took an assistant and nine boys on an overnight hike on Tet Ridge. During the afternoon hike they repeatedly glimpsed a large black figure at a distance and found very large tracks and broken branches high above the ground. That night at a near-summit camp the group heard multiple loud roars and stayed awake by the fire, also hearing movement below. They found no further sign on the hike out and agreed not to tell others.
Rocks thrown at group of summer campers
The witness and about twenty other campers were sleeping on a beach during an overnight canoe trip to an island. After dark, rocks were repeatedly thrown hard and accurately at the group, continuing through the night until dawn and frightening many campers. The witness and a companion briefly saw a fleeting human-like figure running along the treeline toward the group before rejoining the others and sheltering behind driftwood.
Possible footprints in the Iron Mountain area, east of Merritt
While hunting deer in a remote forested mountain area, the witness found a large human-like five-toed footprint frozen in mud beneath a large tree after noticing an unclear print nearby. The clear print was described as longer and wider than the witness's size 10 boot, approximately three inches larger. The discovery occurred in daylight with old snow and frozen ground.
Lots of tracks found while fishing
Five people fishing in a remote creek area found about half a dozen very large footprints that appeared to be about a week old. The tracks ran from the creek across sandy soil toward rocky brush and were described as about 17 inches long and 10 inches wide. Casts were later made from the tracks and the find was reported in newspapers.
