Salt Fork boaters hear a loud, deep howl ("Ohio Howl") from adjacent shore
Four people boating into a cove at Salt Fork heard a loud, bassy sound from a wooded shoreline that was audible over the boat motor and resembled a mechanical siren winding up. The operator shut off the engine to listen. The reporter later said the sound was very close to a posted Ohio Howl audio clip, except closer, and noted a companion reported knocking sounds he did not recall.
Bow hunter recalls hearing screams near Wayne National Forest
Late one October morning the witness left a house on foot for a bow hunt carrying recording gear. About 100 to 125 yards down a logging road he heard a loud sustained scream from the woods to his left, estimated within 100 feet. The sound rose from a low moan to a scream then fell to a rumble ending in three woof-like blasts, lasting 7-10 seconds and never repeated. In June 2007 the witness and a companion visited a small lake in Schoolcraft County to fish and look around. At the spot where sand met grass the companion called the witness over to a very large human-shaped footprint. The witness stepped into the print and found it fit but was much bigger.

When the witness was about nine, she was walking with an older neighbor girl in the back portion of family property. Something nearby growled loudly at them, and after they walked about 200 feet into the front pasture it growled and shrieked again. In the late 1960s, the witness was stationed at a fence corner during a family deer drive on fenced farm land. He reported seeing a large hairy figure step over a four-foot barbed-wire fence from the west and then over a second fence to the north. The rest of the hunting party later emerged from the woods behind it, and the witness maintained the same account into adulthood.

The witness was mountain biking on a game trail in thick forest when he stopped in a clear-cut opening to repair a flat front tire. A loud thump came from a burnt-out RV about 50-60 yards away, and he saw a large jet-black furred head appear in a broken window about six feet off the ground. The head tilted slowly to the side as he remounted his bike, and he rode back to his cabin using GPS. He reported smelling a pungent odor at the site and again outside his cabin the next morning, which he interpreted as the animal having followed him.

The witness and a companion were mushroom hunting when they found about ten barefoot-like prints crossing a muddy stretch of a mostly dry creek. The prints appeared to enter from water on one side and exit into water on the other, heading east toward a nearby river. He called out, scanned with lights with his rifle ready, saw nothing, then left quickly when a boat arrived.

Late at night the witness paddled a small boat up a creek with two dogs and heard something following on the bank, then a loud blowing noise. The dogs refused to go ashore and later barked intensely.
